A few moments later the sky above the car suddenly darkened. “Uh-oh,” Simon said. But then as quickly as the sky had darkened, it lightened. “Man oh man, did you all see that?”

“See what?” Jamal said, looking up from his bird book.

“The sky right over our heads, doofus. Didn’t you see it get darker all of a sudden and then get light again?” Simon said. “It sure wasn’t a cloud. Or a jet …”

“Holy moly,” said Gabby. “Mr. C, what was that?”

Mr. C shook his head. “I’m not sure, but I have a hunch.” He turned toward the kids. “It might be heading to the same place that we are.” He pushed down on the gas pedal. “Let’s go!”

When the Trackers and Mr. C reached Leeds Point, they looked out the bookmobile windows. “I don’t see much,” Maya said softly. “Not even an old house. It must have fallen apart. Maybe we ought to just leave … you know, move along … like right now!”

Simon leaned forward and whispered to Mr. C, “I have a feeling that ‘you know who’ is up to something, and he might have left a clue around here somewhere. I’m going to look around, okay?”

Mr. C nodded and then spoke calmly to the other Trackers. “We’ve got to find those missing seeds, and we need to hurry, but if any of you are nervous right now, I’ll stay by the car with you, while others look around.”
