2007 – Stellar Science Spectacular

The New Jersey Center for the Book was proud to announce at this celebration of its 5th anniversary the Stellar Science Spectacular, and event held at the Liberty Science Center in October 2007 to promote science literacy. The symposium for teachers and librarians featured workshops, discussions, presentations, and a variety of learning resources that qualify for professional development.  The Featured speakers included Governor John  Corzine and Lucille Davy, NJ Commissioner of Education.  The event was offered in partnership with Stevens Institute of Technology, the Boston Museum of Science, the New Jersey Department of Education, and the New Jersey Association of School Librarians.

During the event a new award, the Miss Rumphius Award, was announced that will honor a librarian or school media specialist who has done something special in spreading ideas, literacy, or setting a standard of excellence in the library profession.
