Literary Lion Award – 2018

Carol Phillips, Youth Services Librarian, St. Bartholomew School, East Brunswick, NJ, was named a Literary Lion by the Board of the NJ Center for the Book for 2018.

Ms. Phillips has been a library leader in the state and nationally for some time.  She was selected the Librarian of the Year by the New Jersey Library Association, has worked on numerous of committees of NJ Library Association, and was the first working children’s librarian to be elected President of the New Jersey Library Association.

Nationally she was elected to the prestigious Caldecott Committee and the Newberry Book Award Committee of the American Library Association and served in a number of other positions for the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association.

She currently serves on the Intellectual Freedom Committee for both NJLA and ALSC.
